Your First Men's Haircut in SoHo: What to Expect at MENSPIRE

Trying a new salon can feel like a gamble. Here's exactly how an appointment at MENSPIRE New York works, from booking to walking back out onto Greene Street.
1. Booking
Everything is booked online through Fresha. Choose your service, your stylist and a time, and it's confirmed instantly. We're open every day from 10am to 7pm, and appointments are booked to the minute, so you won't be kept waiting when you arrive.
Not sure what to book? Most people start with a Haircut & Style. If you want a genuinely different look, book a ReStyle (more on that below).
2. Finding us
We're at 11 Greene Street, between Canal Street and Grand Street in SoHo, a few minutes' walk from Canal Street station. Look for the tall windows and the MENSPIRE name on the glass.

3. The consultation
Before anything is cut, your stylist will ask how you usually wear your hair, how long you spend on it in the morning, and what you like and don't like about it now. Bring a photo if you have one. This is where the cut is planned, and it's the part most places rush.
4. The cut
Our stylists work mostly with scissors, using clippers where a fade or a sharp line calls for them. Expect precise, wearable shapes, from fades and texture to classic cuts, adjusted to your hair type and the way it grows. If you've booked a beard too, it's shaped, lined and finished to match.

5. The finish
Every cut is styled properly before you leave, and your stylist will show you how to recreate it at home: which product, how much, and how to work it in. It's one of the things clients mention most in their reviews.
What it costs

When to book a ReStyle
A ReStyle is a longer, more technical appointment for real change: growing out a short cut, adding layers, or moving to a new length or shape. Your stylist plans it with you first, then takes the time to get it right. It's also the one to book if you've had the same cut for years and want a fresh start.
How often to come back
Fades look their sharpest for two to three weeks, most short cuts hold their shape for three to four, and longer styles can go six to eight. The easiest way to stay on top of it is to book your next visit before you leave.
